Implantology
Implantology is a fixed prosthesis technique that is increasingly on the rise, as it allows one, several or all of the teeth to be permanently replaced and offers significant advantages over partial or total removable prostheses, which become misaligned and deteriorate relatively easily. , or bridges, which damage the enamel of the teeth on which they are thinned by metal wires.
The implant is a surgical procedure by which a thread-shaped metal piece made of biocompatible materials is fixed to the maxillary or zygomatic bone that will serve to replace the root of the tooth and fix the definitive prosthesis on it. These pieces, if they are metallic (titanium), adhere to the bone mechanically in a process called osseointegration, while if they have been made with ceramic materials (for example, zirconium) they achieve adherence through a biointegration process.
